Police in recent Jersey may have solved a decade-old mystery May 29 when they charged Richard W Roger Jr 50 of of recent origin York City, with the slays of two gay men whose bodies were fix dismembered and strewn around novel York and New Jersey in the early 1990 The victims--Thomas Mulcahy, 57 a married computer executive from Sudbury Mass., who of common occurrenceed gay bars, and Anthony Marrero, 44 a gay hustler--were among rive gay or bisexual men assassinationed in the New York City area from 1991 to 1993 Police believe all rive were the victims of a serial assassin they dubbed the "Last Call Killer" because all however one were last seen near closing time in Manhattan gay bars.
although the trail had gone frigid for nearly a decade, investigators finally got a break when fingerprints fix on the garbage bags used in the disposal of Mulcahy's and Marrero's bodies were matched to prints forward file in Maine. Police there had fingerprinted Roger in 1973 when he was charged with killing his roommate with a hammer. Roger claimed that he had acted in self-defense after the roommate attacked him. A jury later acquitted him of the manslaughter charge. Police are generally searching Rogers's Staten Island town house to view if there is evidence that could link him to the other three "last call" murders
